Every person who walks through our doors arrives with a history, a set of preferences, and needs that are entirely their own. We build care plans around the individual, not the other way around, whether that means a warm and active community for someone who is mostly independent, or hands-on, specialized support for someone living with memory impairment.

Over 34 years of caring for seniors, the one thing that has never changed is this: the caregiver is what makes the difference. We invest in our people at every level because we know that the person sitting with your loved one each day is the most important part of what we do. Training, consistency, and genuine compassion are not just values we talk about. They are what we hire for, develop, and hold onto.

Where Memory Care Began

Memory care is not something Bay Harbor added along the way. It is where we began. Our founder was a nurse with a master's degree in gerontology at a time when the field was just taking shape. She watched families struggle to find skilled, compassionate care for loved ones living with dementia, and she set out to build something better. That was the beginning, in 1989.

That founding purpose still shapes everything at Bay Harbor of DeForest today. Our approach to memory care is personal, structured, and built around people who chose this work and trained specifically for it. If your family is navigating a dementia diagnosis, this is a team that understands what that means.

Getting started is simple. We begin with a personal assessment, a conversation to understand your preferences, desires, and the specific kind of support that fits your life. From there we build a care plan around you.
 
Every resident at Bay Harbor of DeForest receives our basic care services as a foundation. Beyond that, your plan is tailored to what you need. For residents requiring more, we offer Advanced Care, Memory Care, nursing services, and medical management as additional layers of support.
 

You pay only for what your loved one actually needs, nothing more. As those needs change, the plan changes with them. That simplicity is something we are proud of.
